ShotBlocker® [box of 100]
Instantly reduces needle pain and anxiety associated with injections.
ShotBlocker is a flexible plastic disk that has a number of blunt contact points on its underside. When pressed firmly against the patient's skin at the injection site, ShotBlocker saturates the sensory signals distracting the patient from the pain signals caused by the needle poke.
ShotBlocker distracts and comforts patients of all ages receiving intramuscular or subcutaneous injections to lessen the perceived pain and anxiety. ShotBlocker is an innovative, patented device that is both simple and easy-to-use.
ShotBlocker is a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. ShotBlocker is a flexible plastic disk that has a number of blunt contact points on its underside. When pressed firmly against the patient's skin at the injection site, ShotBlocker saturates the sensory signals distracting the patient from the pain signals caused by the needle poke.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does the ShotBlocker work?
Shotblocker's ability to block pain is based on the gate control theory of pain management. The theory states that there is a gating mechanism in the spinal cord that can be either opened or closed. When opened pain signals are transferred through small nerve fibers to the brain and a pain sensation is experienced. It has been found that the gate can be closed by simultaneous stimulation of large diameter nerve fibers, those that respond to touch.
2. What proof do you have that the ShotBlocker blocks the pain of injections?
Bionix Medical Technologies has teamed with Flower Hospital in Toledo, Ohio to complete a study on the effectiveness of the
ShotBlocker device. The results of the study show that the ShotBlocker significantly reduced the pain from minor injections.
Along with this study Dr. Huttner, the inventor of the ShotBlocker, has been using the device in his practice for over a year
and he along with other medical professionals there have found it to be very effective at blocking the pain of injections.
You can view the ShotBlocker studies HERE.
3. How much cost will ShotBlocker add to injection procedures?
At about .50 per device the cost of ShotBlocker will be minimal compared to other methods that are currently used.
4. Why is ShotBlocker single-patient use?
ShotBlocker is designed to be single-patient use in order to promote a sterile environment during injection procedures.
The single-patient use feature of the ShotBlocker also eliminates the cost associated with resterilization.
5. How many are there in a box?
They are available in two sizes; 50 per box (BX8050) and 100 per box (BX8100).
