Swann-Morton Dermaplaning Blades

Popular blade shapes are the #14, followed by the #10, and now the new #10R designed specifically for dermaplaning.
We have some clients who use all three, and others who only use one or the other.
Both #10 and #14 are available in stainless steel and carbon steel;  in a surgical environment, only stainless steel blades can be used when the establishment's protocol is for them to be included within an autoclavable instrument set.  In dermaplaning, the difference is negligible; stainless steel blades are slightly blunter, but stay sharper longer, carbon steel is sharper, but blunts more quickly - it's really just a matter of personal preference.  Carbon steel blades are marginally less expensive.

Also now popular is the #10R blade (also known as the "butter blade") - shorter and more rounded than the #14, it is ideal for getting into smaller more restricted areas of the face and the rounded (bull nose) tip prevents any accidental snagging or scratching, thus providing a more effective and consistent finish.  Available in stainless steel only.
#14, #10 and #10R blades use the separate #3 handle.

There are also disposable versions of the #14 and #10 blade shapes, in carbon steel only (since they would never be autoclaved), complete with a plastic handle.

A few, but not many, of our Aesthetician customers use the #16 blade - there's no right or wrong, it's just a matter of individual technique, how you were trained, and whatever works for you!
We do recommend the use of a forceps for applying the blades to the handle (several to choose from - Kelly Forceps are the most popular), and the blade removal unit (GM5525/1) for safe extraction and disposal.

One last note about the blades; we only sell sterile blades - an important point if you are comparing prices.

Dermaplaning is a highly specialized clinical skin care procedure performed by an Aesthetics Clinician, utilizing a surgical blade to "lift & scrape" accumulating horney layers of the epidermis. Also known as scraping, epidermal leveling or skin blading, it is considered by industry professionals as an effective and non-invasive skin care procedure. Dermaplaning is the perfect procedure to incorporate with microdermabrasion, laser, microcurrent and a variety of chemical peeling. The treatment removes corneocyte cohesion, excessive dead skin cells, even skin tone, eliminates villous facial hair, pigmentation clusters, softens facial lines, wrinkles, and re-texturizes the skin.
